The York County Community College campus consists of 84 wooded acres of land located in the town of Wells. The College is bordered to the north, south and west by summer vacation resorts, and by Route 1 to the east, with the Atlantic Ocean visible in the distance. The campus is easily accessible by all major roadways in Southern Maine. The Maine Turnpike and Amtrak Downeaster train station are located just a mile away on Route 109. The WAVE (Wheels to Access Vocation & Education) van transportation system is another local transportation resource for accessing the campus.
In total, YCCC’s building has 33,000 square feet, including 26 classrooms, 4 conference-style rooms, the Learning Center and the Library. Classrooms include four dedicated to Community Education, a culinary arts lab, nursing lab, art room, Early Childhood Education classroom, two science labs and three specialized computer labs. A total of 13 classrooms are available for more general purposes, including four multipurpose computer labs, eight lecture-style rooms and a seminar room. Although many classrooms were designed to accommodate 24-30 students, the majority of the rooms contain 20-25 seats because of YCCC’s philosophy of small classes.
