On Friday, January 10th, 2014 York County Community College (YCCC) and the Maine Quality Centers celebrated the achievements of 14 recent trainees who have graduated from the Center for Advanced Technology for Industry. This is the second cohort to complete the 320-hour pre-hire training program. Funding for the program was provided by a grant for up to $70,000 from the Maine Quality Centers and had the support of three area manufacturers; Corning Incorporated, Maine Manufacturing, and Wasco Products who agreed to interview the graduates for positions within their companies upon completion of the training. In addition, Bank of America has provided a $5000 grant to ensure that the program continues beyond the first two cohorts.
Trainee graduates took classes in Essential Mathematics for Life, Communication, Computer Skills, Blueprint Reading, Safety, Lean Concepts, Team Building, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Leadership Skills and Resume and Interview Skills.
We are in the process of scheduling our next training opportunity, please check back soon for updates. FMI about this program and others like it please contact Paulette Millette, Director of the Department of Business & Community Programs at YCCC, 207-216-4342 or email@example.com.
