Isn’t YCCC supported by the state? Why does YCCC need private funding?
Yes, YCCC is a state-assisted college. The state of Maine remains our primary
funding source, however, the hallmark of truly great educational institutions is
a diversified funding base. Private funds allow us to supplement our state
funding and provide for superior equipment, facilities, and programs to train a
world-class workforce.
What are the benefits of giving to the YCCC Foundation?
In addition to investing in the education and training of students and the
development of a competitive and skilled workforce for the York County
community, you may also realize significant tax and income benefits by making a
gift to the Foundation. You may receive income savings through a charitable
deduction, based on your tax rate. You may avoid capital gains tax on gifts of
appreciated stock or property. You may create life income for yourself and/or
others through life income and planned gifts. You can eliminate federal estate
tax on the value of a gift passing to the YCCC Foundation under a will or
revocable trust.
Please note that these benefits may not be applicable to all
gifts. Please consult your attorney or financial advisor for more detailed
benefits of a gift.
What is the relationship between YCCC and the YCCC Foundation?
The YCCC Foundation is a non-profit entity created solely for the benefit and
support of York County Community College. All gifts to the Foundation directly
benefit the college and are tax deductible.
