Career Studies

Associate in Applied Science

Program Description

This program provides highly individualized and flexible programming to meet the needs of students with significant work and learning experiences whose education and/or occupational goals cannot be met by the other technical programs of the college. Objectives of this program is to recognize significant work and/or learning experiences in a broad range of technical and specialized career fields; enhance education opportunities for those students who already possess significant bases of skill and/or learning; and assist individuals to advance in their chosen field. This program is designed to prepare students for various careers and is built on a foundation of general education courses.

Career opportunities and occupational-outlook studies continue to show the value of post-secondary education to a person’s career opportunities and earning potential. Many employers look upon the Associate Degree as a minimum requirement for skilled occupations. This degree can serve as a platform of accomplishment for pursuing additional education at a four-year institution; for exploring a field in an area of technology; or for attaining personal or career goals.
