Expanded Function Dental Assistant Program
The mission of the Expanded Function Dental Assisting program is to prepare motivated individuals to become competent and knowledgeable expanded function dental assistants. The program will teach the EFDA student all the skills necessary to make the transition from chairside assistant to expanded function dental assistant. The student will learn the materials needed to develop proficiency in the expanded function laboratory. After laboratory competence is reached, this program will give the student practical experience in the clinical field of dentistry until clinical competency is achieved.

Financial Information and Important Dates
- Tuition $4,500.The EFDA program is offered on the 3rd weekend of each month starting January 8, 2010 thru December 11, 2010.
- Application deadline is May 30, 2010
- Candidate will know of acceptance by June 25, 2010
- Once student received acceptance to the program, a $500 non-refundable deposit is due by January 2, 2010.
- Full tuition payment is due prior to start of classes.
- Tuition includes textbook
- Additional supply expenses $550 which will include Typodont and Instruments Kit. These materials will be purchased through the college.
- Lab fee $200.
- Twelve students will be enrolled in the 2010 EFDA Program.
- The student must have a sponsoring restorative dentist participate with him/her in the program. The dentist will be responsible for supervising the student’s field training. Clinical field training starts immediately following the EFDA Program. The student and dentist have until June , 2010 to complete the required clinical competencies. A bench test will be administered in July, upon successful completion of this test, training is finalized.
