Theatre Camp

Ages 7-14

Instructor:  Derek Brigham (Sanford Maine Stage Company)

In five days of fun workshops, campers will learn: 

• A general over-all view on theatre (what it involves, different levels of theatre, different types of theatre, etc.)
• Improvisation techniques (how an actor performs on a whim and how to say "Yes" to everything given in a scene)
• Character development, (what is a play without characters? BECOMING the character; EMBODYING a role) and ultimately;
• how to make your own play! (writing, directing, blocking, lighting, acting!)

By the end of five days, campers will have learned these techniques and will perform their own short plays at Show and Tell on Friday at 2:00 p.m. 

This program will teach acting skills to any/all willing to learn and can be applied not only to life on stage, but to stage every day life!
