THE ACADEMIC LIFELINES
YCCC LIBRARY
Access to Library Resources
The YCCC Library houses more than 8,000 library items
including books, CDs, DVDs, videos, magazines, newspapers and computer
software. YCCC is also a member of Minerva, a statewide library consortium that
gives YCCC students access to more than 6 million library resources.
Research & Reference
YCCC’s Library website is designed to guide you to quality
information and resources. Search the online library catalog for books and
more, get background information from Encyclopedia Britannica Online, access
magazine and newspaper research databases. Get a jumpstart on your research
with an online research guide or tutorial. Can’t find what you’re looking for?
The YCCC Library is staffed with friendly professionals to assist you in person
or online!
Additional Library Services
Open Computer Labs – Over thirty computer
workstations are located in the open lab area of the library, providing access
to Office & Programming Software, Computer-Aided Drafting & Design applications,
the Internet and the Library’s online catalog.
Group Study Rooms – There are four group study rooms
that can be booked throughout the school year for group research projects.
Tutoring – The Library hosts many resources,
including the math lap, writing and computer tutors. Tutoring is free to all
students, and available by dropping by during scheduled hours or by making an
appointment.
CAREER COUNSELING
Through one on one counseling sessions, workshops, speakers
and on-campus recruiting events, YCCC strives to provide each student with the
opportunity to gain employment in the career field of their choice. Career
counseling offers tips for making great first impressions on an interview,
writing a knockout resume and learning how to dress for success so students can
excel in their chosen profession. The Career Counseling Office also invites
employers to visit the campus and meet YCCC students, providing them with the
opportunity to speak to potential candidates.
ONLINE CLASSES
We know you have a busy life so YCCC made it a priority to
offer this alternative to traditional on-campus classes. While a full degree
cannot be earned online, you can make progress towards a degree from the comfort
of your own home. These interactive courses use an internet-based system that
allows students to participate in class discussions, receive and submit
documents and assignments, and have access to all resources, lectures and course
materials.
DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS
YCCC’s Dual Enrollment Program offers qualified high school
and home-schooled students the opportunity to experience college level classes
while still in high school. Many of the general education requirements, as well
as technical courses, are available to students interested in this program. You
can discuss the Dual Enrollment Program with your guidance counselor to
determine which programs you qualify for as a high school or home-schooled
student.
