Wells, Maine – Graduation ceremonies were held on June 8th for forty students of the York County Community College Certified Nursing Assistant Program. The graduates are: Stephany Bennett, N. Berwick; Richard Bernier, Sanford; Maechie Bernier, Old Orchard Beach; Robert Calderon, Sanford; Christine Cann, Wells; Corrie Canning, Limerick; Christine Caron, Acton; Kristi Carpenter, Sanford; Ry Chan, Sanford; Alyson Chase, Wells; Orianna Clark, Biddeford; Cristale Cook, So Berwick; Celeste Coughlin, Sanford; Rhonda Coy, Sanford; John Daigle, Springvale; Shannon Delisle, Lyman; Bobbi-Jo Dupuis, Springvale; Patricia Fuller, Wells; Catherine Goudreau, Shapleigh; Diane Griffin, Wells; Angela Grimes, Sanford; Danielle Guillemette, Lyman; John Helms, Alfred; Kathleen Hofer, York; Carrielynn Johnson, Sanford; Opal Klodner, Sanford; Sherrie Laughlin, Kennebunk; Katy Littlefield, Wells; Theresa Lyman, Sanford; Michaela MacKenzie, Lebanon; Alicia Morris, Saco; Michelle Murphy, Alfred; Tracy Piantoni, Lyman; Stephen Piela, Saco; Stephanie Raleigh, Portsmouth, NH; Michelle Rios, Sanford; Sarah Saltsman, Portsmouth, NH; Lynn Shaw, Sanford; Irma Stephenson, Buxton; and Nancy Violette, of Biddeford.
Dr. Charles Lyons, president of the college welcomed the graduates before program instructors, Sam Brophy, R.N., Denis Parent, R.N., and Kim Parent, R.N. addressed the graduates and led them in the Florence Nightingale Candlelight Pledge. A celebratory reception followed the ceremony.

Nancy Violette of Biddeford (pictured) had nothing but high praise for the CNA course and its instructors. “We had phenomenal teachers who were fantastic leaders,” Violette advised. The mother of two daughters, seven and five, Violette notes that they are her inspiration to enter the medical field. “Ever since my children were born, people have been telling me that nursing is my calling.” The newly pinned Certified Nurse’s Assistant will not stop here, however. “I am already enrolled in the YCCC nursing program and will be working toward my R.N.. I have to, though, my kids already think I’m a nurse!”
York County Community College, established in 1994, is one of seven community colleges in the Maine Community College System. The college enrolls over 1,000 students in associate degrees and transfer programs and over 1,600 individuals in non-credit continuing education and professional development areas.
