Commencement 2009 Information

York County Community College Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 16th at 10 a.m. in the Cafeteria.  Due to the size of our facility, each graduate will be permitted 4 tickets for guests.  Each guest will be required to have a ticket, including children over 2 years of age.

Tickets will be distributed at the required Informational Meeting which will take place on Monday, May 11th for all graduates who will be attending the ceremony.  The informational meeting will be held twice – 12 noon and 5 p.m. -- in the middle cafeteria.   Graduates may attend either session.

Additional tickets (beyond the 4 for graduates’ guests) may be available.  To request additional tickets, graduates should see the Receptionist at the main entrance information desk between the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. between Tuesday, May 5th and Monday, May 11th.  All requests must be made in person; no phone or e-mail requests will be honored.  Additional tickets (if available) may be picked up by only those graduates who previously made a request on Wednesday, May 13th at the Information Desk at the main entrance.

Caps and gowns are now available at the Bookstore for pick-up.  Graduates will be asked to complete a short survey before receiving the academic regalia.  Please be aware that all financial obligations must be met before the graduate will be permitted to pick up his/her cap and gown.  All financial aid/Stafford loan recipients are required to attend an exit interview.  Graduates who have not already participated in one should contact Amanda Cole-Dougherty (646-9282 ext. 312 or acole-dougherty@yccc.edu) to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Graduates who have attained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher (as of December, 2008) will be provided with a gold tassel to indicate that they are honor students.  Members of Phi Theta Kappa may wear the gold stole that was previously purchased.

All graduates have received an invitation from the YCCC Alumni Association to attend the Graduation Dinner.  This event will be held on Friday, May 8th at 5:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria. Responses to Elizabeth Fitzgerald (646-9282 ext. 501 or efitzgerald@yccc.edu.) are due by April 29th.

Our building is handicapped accessible; any participants or guests require special arrangements should contact Brandy Hayes, Coordinator for Students with Disabilities, by Monday, May 11th.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16th.  Graduates must report for the line-up at 9:15 a.m.!
