SENIOR OFFICE ASSISTANT – PART-TIME (20 HOURS)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Our fast-paced Student Affairs office seeks a part-time dynamic, organized, customer service professional to provide clerical support functions in this highly customer service oriented area. Candidates must be able to work independently, set priorities and be flexible. Duties include customer service, record keeping, word processing, database management, telephone communications, filing, preparation of materials and coordination of mailings. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must; a customer service focus is essential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures & equipment
- Knowledge of standard letter and memo formats; and the ability to proofread documents and letters;
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation;
- Ability to use alphabetical, numerical, chronological and secondary filing systems;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately;
- Ability to transfer information and present it in modified form;
- Ability to maintain files and records;
- Ability to ask questions to complete forms, and provide accurate information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent, which includes office practices course work or training and education such as vocational technical institute – or – adult education clerical course work or secretarial school courses – or 2 years of clerical office work experience.
BENEFITS: Benefits and salary are in accordance with the MSEA Support Services Bargaining Unit. Starting hourly rate is $10.64 - $11.74 with a prorated benefits package including; health, dental and life insurance for employees (spouse/dependent coverage also available), vision insurance, Maine State Retirement, sick/vacation time allowances, 12 paid holidays, and discounted tuition within the Maine Community College System.
