York County Community College is changing its process of obtaining Federal Stafford and Federal PLUS loans for the 2009/2010 academic year. YCCC currently participates in the FFEL (Federal Family Education Loan) program, in which students and parents borrow from private banks and lenders. Beginning with new students in January 2010, YCCC will participate exclusively in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program, in which new borrowers obtain loan funds directly from the US Department of Education. We believe that the Direct Loan program will offer our students and parents a more stable, streamlined, and predictable borrowing experience.
Stafford Loan 2009-2010
To complete the stafford loan application process, please print the Stafford Loan Application, enter the required information and return the form to the Financial Aid Office. Mail: YCCC- Financial Aid Office 112 College Dr. Wells, Maine 04090 or fax 207-641-0837.
Parent PLUS Loan 2009-2010**
**Repayment will begin 60 days after the final disbursement. Deferment options available, contact lender for more information.

To monitor all of your federal student loan debt, you may access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) online by clicking on the link or typing www.nslds.gov in your web browser. You may also call toll-free 1-800-999-8219. You will need your federal PIN to view your loan history. Please note that this website does not list you alternative or private student loans.
Information on any Stafford loan taken out by a student or parent will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and institutions determined to be authorized users of the data system.
