1. What is the preferred name to use?
American Academy McAllisterInstitute(AAMI)
 
2. When does the program start?
AAMI has online semesters in Jan,April, July, Oct.
 
3. Do I matriculate at YCCC first?
No, matriculate with AAMI, take classes at YCCC as a non-matric.
 
4. What courses do I take at YCCC?
ENG 101, Science, Math, Death & Dying(Soc or Psy pre-requisite)
Note: ENG 101 & College Math may require placement tests.
 
5. How come I can't transfer Bus Law, Acct, Ethics or Small Bus Mgt?
AAMI teaches these subjects so students can pass the National Boards. YCCC students may audit these AAMI classes for a $50 audit fee.
 
6. How do I register at AAMI?
Online after doing a phone interview with an AAMI advisor.

8. Which school handles my financial aid?
AAMI will handle financial aid(recipients can have their YCCC classes covered). YCCC Financial Aid office can assist with general questions on the process. The preferred lender is Bank of America.
 
9. How can I get tutoring questions answered since AAMI's classes are online?
AAMI professors are available by phone calls or email and provide answers within 48 hours…often during the same day. YCCC tutoring help is also available in the Learning Assistance Center for non Funeral Service classes.
 
10. Where do I stay in NY City when I do the 2 week Capstone Seminar?
AAMI has a dorm arrangement with St. John's University as well as a number of local hotels. Lodging per night is $60 and up. This seminar is the final step after all academic classes are fulfilled. This seminar teaches embalming and other hands-on industry techniques.
 
11. Will Math or Science classes be offered at YCCC so out of state students in MA, VT and northern ME can fulfill all requirements off-campus?
MA and SCI online classes at YCCC are under development. Check the YCCC website for updates.
 
12. Are scholarships available?
The ME Funeral Directors Assoc. sponsors a $500 scholarship. Check:www.mefda.org
