Hussey Seating Company has been a cornerstone of support for York County Community College (YCCC) since the College’s humble beginnings in 1995.  So, it came as no surprise to the leadership of YCCC, the YCCC Foundation and the Foundation for Maine’s Community Colleges that Hussey Seating Company generously offered to donate the state-of-the-art seating for the College’s new academic building’s 140-seat lecture/performance hall.  This $40,000 in-kind donation of seating and installation is in addition to Hussey Seating Company’s $30,000 cash donation to the College’s “Changing Lives & Strengthening Community” Capital Campaign.

Recently Gary Merrill, President and CEO of Hussey Seating Company, and Jim Chadbourne, Director of Dealer Sales for the company, presented YCCC President, Dr. Barbara Finkelstein, and YCCC Foundation Chair, Kathy Baker, with a sample of the seat which will be installed in the new facility.  The sample is now on display in the YCCC lobby.

“The relationship between Hussey Seating Company and YCCC has spanned over two decades. We have many employees who have graduated from YCCC or taken courses to further their education,” said Gary Merrill, President and CEO of Hussey Seating Company. “We’re proud to support an educational institution that continues to be the picture of community involvement and higher education in Southern Maine.”

The College has outgrown its current 78,000 square foot building which opened its doors in 1995. The new building will provide much-needed instructional space through eight state-of-the-art classrooms, independent and group study areas and a Developmental Mathematics Lab. The lecture/performance hall and attached flexible classroom/backstage area will allow the College to hold larger classes as well as host community events.
