The North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) is a nonprofit organization on a mission to provide world-class continuing professional development for the global veterinary healthcare community. Four York County Community College (YCCC) Veterinary Technology students and YCCC Adjunct, Sonja Ahlberg recently had the opportunity to attend the 2017 NAVC Conference in Orlando, Florida thanks to a generous grant from the CHS Foundation and additional support from the YCCC Student Senate and Vet Tech Club fundraisers.
“The NAVC conference to me was an eye opener to all the opportunities we have in this field as well as very inspirational for wanting to make a difference at my own practice to help us work better together as a whole.” – YCCC Vet Tech Student, Amber Creswell
While at the conference students had the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars on topics such as: civil & criminal liability issues; giant panda and polar bear medicine; rehabilitation of the neurologic patient; and pain management and the veterinary technician. Students also used this conference as an opportunity to network and learn about all the various opportunities in the field.
“My experience at NAVC was truly unforgettable and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have learned so many things that I can take and use to make my care of patients better. I am truly thankful that YCCC gives us this opportunity.” – YCCC Vet Tech Student, Sarah Ramsey
