Wells-  York County Community College (YCCC) President, Dr. Charles Lyons, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Maine Higher Education Council (MHEC).  Dr. Lyons will represent the Maine Community College System (MCCS).

The Maine Higher Education Council is a non-profit association of Maine’s 33 college and university Presidents; the Chancellor of the University of Maine System; the President of the Maine Community College System; and the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Education.  Its mission is to collaborate to strengthen education, especially higher education in Maine.   

Lyons accepted the post at the organization’s annual meeting in Augusta.  He is taking the seat previously held by University of Maine Fort Kent president Richard Cost.  Dr. Lyons will serve a two year term.
