Wells- On April 23rd, Digital Media student and soon to be graduate, Grady Fox, of Springvale, was honored at the Student of the Year ceremony at the Senator Inn in Augusta. The award ceremony was hosted by the Maine Community College system.
"Six different faculty and staff nominated Grady for this award," said Dr. Corinne Kowpak, Dean of Students at YCCC, who gave remarks and presented the award. "The nominations continually pointed out the many special ways that Grady has touched the lives of fellow students, faculty and staff."
As a digital media student, Grady's program of study includes computer animation, 3-D character modeling, motion graphics, digital imaging and graphic design. Digital media faculty member, Michael Lee, says that Grady "has great vision and creativity. He is careful to learn the specific skill sets, theory and knowledge base of each lesson, but also consistently attempts to build off of that foundation and see where he can go with the newly attained knowledge."
Grady's 4.0 GPA is only one of his many accomplishments while at YCCC. He is a married, full-time student, Learning Center tutor, Digital Lab monitor and Editor of The Voice, YCCC's student newspaper. Grady is also President of Phi Theta Kappa and was recently named to the All-Maine Academic Team!
"Grady is viewed as a key campus leader and everyone knows that anything Grady agrees to do, will be done well and on time," advised Kowpak, who closed her remarks with the following warning, "Look out Steven Spielberg, here comes Grady Fox!"
York County Community College, established in 1994, is one of seven community colleges in the Maine Community College System.
