YCCC held a signing ceremony today, February 2, 2022, on its Wells, Maine campus to celebrate the start of its 3rd cohort of the highly successful and competitive Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program. This program is offered in partnership with York Hospital and Maine Health.

This all-expense paid, 9-month accelerated program will provide participants with paid, on-the-job training and mastery of Medical Assisting skills learned in the classroom at YCCC. This opportunity is generously funded by the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan and in partnership with The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce.

Fourteen participants who meet all program eligibility requirements will work with medical assistants 20 hours a week at a partnering medical office. At the same time, they will receive blended classroom and online instruction from YCCC’s medical assisting instructors.

This cohort of Medical Assistant Apprenticeship students’ journey will run from February 7 – October 28, 2022.  Upon successful completion of the program, participants will take a national accreditation exam to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA). Additionally, participants who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive up to 30 college credits in YCCC’s Health Studies degree program.
