Emergency Medical Technician Certification

Meeting Days and Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30pm – 9:30pm and 3 Saturdays, 8am – 5pm (March 9, April 13, May 4)

Prepares ambulance and rescue personnel, police officers and firefighters to administer out-of-hospital emergency medical care. The laboratory component provides practice in patient assessment, airway management, CPR, automatic external defibrillation, oxygen delivery, hemorrhage control, splinting, spinal immobilization, childbirth, lifting and moving patients, and extrication. This course includes clinical experience in a hospital and/or ambulance service. Students who successfully complete this course are eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT’s certification exam.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Accuplacer exam and students must be up-to-date on immunizations. Students will also have to undergo a criminal background check in order to determine eligibility for clinical rotations.
Cost: $916.85 plus cost for the textbook. Students who register will be given the ISBN code for the book so they can order it. Students are also responsible for the cost of the Background check and will be given instructions for completing the background check when they call to register.
Registration: This class is a joint offering between York County Community College (YCCC) and Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), and EMCC will be taking the registrations for the class. To register, click HERE.
