Welding – Free Training Opportunity
Training Description: 60-hour preparation course for the American Welding Society certification exam in select structural and pipe, to include: Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). Students will learn many different types of welding practices, shop safety and metal fabrication skills. Students will learn the skills needed to find employment after completion. AWS certifications held after the completion of 60 hours of training. Students can choose (with instructor guidance) which AWS certification they intend to complete.
Where: Training will be held at Sanford Regional Technical Center in Sanford, ME
When: Training runs from June 23rd- August 26th from 6PM – 9 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (with two exceptions in July).
Cost: This training is FREE for those who qualify.* Generously fully-funded through Maine Quality Centers. Training, materials, equipment, and certification test are included in the program.
- 18+ or older
- Maine Resident
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Unemployed, underemployed, or employment impacted by Covid-19
- Some basic welding knowledge and experience required
