AVX Tantalum Donates $10,000 Bringing Total Donation to $30,000 in the Last Three Years

Wells, Maine – Scott Beauregard, Human Resource Manager of AVX Tantalum presented York County Community College (YCCC) President, Dr. Barbara Finkelstein and York County Community College Foundation Chair, Jim Fitzgerald with a $10,000 donation. This is the company’s 3rd donation in support of YCCC’s Mission bringing the total gift to $30,000 over the past three years.

AVX Corporation, which has an electronics factory in Biddeford has been a longtime supporter of the Maine Community College System. The “AVX/Kyocera Foundation” awards grants each year in support of projects and organizations that have a significant impact on the local communities where its corporation has operating facilities. According to Scott Beauregard, AVX Tantalum’s Human Resource Manager; “This year’s donation will be an endowment to support the financial needs of the students attending YCCC. We have a continuing need for people with technical skills in our business. As our manufacturing base here in Maine grows it’s our local Community Colleges that we depend upon to enhance the skills of our workforce. We hope that our donation will help any student wishing to attend YCCC by providing financial support in the form of scholarships.
