The growing industry of technology often brings us to unchartered territory, so the York County Community College is offering a unique course, among many others, this fall for Drone Technology. Taught by Sue Bickford Work, students will learn Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), most commonly referred to as drones, which have become an increasingly valuable tool for a variety of industries. Students will explore requirements to use drones legally and how to become a certified drone pilot; how this exponentially growing industry will fare in the future; what privacy concerns there may be regarding the operation of drones; and much more.
This course will provide hands-on training in basic drone flight skills with an emphasis on drone safety, understanding the rapidly changing rules and regulations, planning drone missions, and developing policies and procedures. These are a valuable skill set in a market that is quickly developing both here in the United States and around the globe.
