YCCC is pleased to announce Michael Oliver as the YCCC Student of the Year. Michael was chosen by college faculty and staff because of his outstanding academic achievements and commitment to the college.
“YCCC has helped me grow as a person and given me the insight into future opportunities. My time here has allowed me to use my mentoring skills as well as my leadership abilities in different groups. I have made this school my home away from home and a place to meet and enjoy the company of others. My career goals are to find a job in which I can make a difference.” Michael Oliver
Michael was honored by the Maine Community College System (MCCS) on Wednesday, April 25th in a ceremony held at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell, ME. After brief remarks from MCCS President, David Daigler, he was presented with the John H. Lapointe, Jr. Leadership Award in the amount of $1,000 by YCCC’s Dean of Students, Jason Arey. Michael will graduate in May with a degree in Behavioral Health Studies.
“He is a true definition of a servant with a can-do attitude! He would be the first to admit the thought of returning to school after 26 years was daunting, but he has made the most of his time here at YCCC giving back to our entire campus community. He is so helpful, so positive, so enthusiastic.” said Danielle Ebbrecht, YCCC’s Learning Center Director
