There are many factors that go into a student’s decision on where to go to college. Factors such as academic programs, cost, location, range of academic programs, the lowest cost tuition in New England, amazing support services, and is now proud to offer intercollegiate athletics. These qualities found at YCCC appeal to many students, especially their newest cross country and track & field commitment- Thomas engagement opportunities, support services and many others influence the final decision a student makes on where to attend. York County Community College (YCCC), located just miles from the ocean, offers a wide Saiauski.

Thomas is from Kittery, ME, where he recently graduated from Traip Academy. His love for both cross country and track & field began partway through his high school career. He started track sophomore year and cross country his junior year, specializing in events such as the 200 meter. During his senior year, he competed in his school’s state championship 4×100 meter relay and finished 3rd place in the 4×400 meter relay. He plans to run in events like the 800 and 1500 meters during his time at York County.

His excitement to start at York County goes beyond athletics and lies within the culinary arts field, specifically in baking and pastry. Thomas will also be majoring in Culinary Arts – Baking and Pastry Option. YCCC’s academic offerings, along with being a part of the inaugural cross country and track teams, led Thomas to York County. The appeal of low tuition and a great initial start down the culinary pathway made YCCC a shot-put decision. When asked about what he is looking forward to, Thomas noted, “I’m looking forward to meeting new people, continuing studies past high school, and improving as a person and an athlete.

Associate Dean of Student Services, Jennifer Laney, highlighted. “ Thomas will be an amazing addition to our York County Hawks family. Not only is he a strong academic student and a talented athlete, but he is also a hardworking, committed leader. Thomas will be a great fit with the program we are building here at York County.”
