York County Community College is pleased to offer placement testing for all prospective applicants to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Apprenticeship Program. To be considered eligible for an apprenticeship position at PNSY, all applicants are required to take an Accuplacer exam with YCCC in Wells, ME, or Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth, NH.
All applicants are required to submit their Accuplacer scores with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during the application period. For more information, please refer to the application instructions on USA Jobs.
Register for a Test Date
Applicants can fill out our registration form to choose a test date for the Accuplacer; be sure to complete the form in its entirety. You may schedule ONLY one date, so be sure you will be attending the exam on the day/time you choose. If you need to schedule an additional exam, you will need to do so by emailing workforce@yccc.edu.
About the Test
Tests have a 2 hours limit and will be by appointment only – the date and time that you register for, will be your test time. Upon registration, you will receive an email with details for your test session. Please be advised due to the volume of applicants, testing will be done in the order in which applicants apply. There is a limited number of testers allowed for each testing session.
Please have a valid photo ID ready to show the proctor on the date of your test. All applicants will be tested on Reading Comprehension; Arithmetic; and Quantitative Reasoning/Statistics/Algebra.
