YCCC is pleased to announce that Khaleigh Brunelle, a second-year Hospitality and Tourism Management major, has been awarded the Jean Ginn Marvin Scholarship by the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.

“I am sincerely honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Jean Ginn Marvin Scholarship. Thank you for the generosity which will allow me to obtain a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. While this has relieved financial stress it is a true reminder that there is always someone rooting for you. I thank you all who made this possible from the bottom of my heart.” Khaleigh Brunelle

The scholarship, which covers all tuition and fees for a year, honors longtime Maine Community College System Trustee Jean Ginn Marvin, the innkeeper at The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport.  Ginn Marvin is known for her deep commitment to student success. She regularly takes a personal interest in supporting hospitality and culinary students, employing them at the Nonantum Resort and has been known to help a student register or drive them to the college so they didn’t miss a class

The scholarship is for full-time second-year students enrolled in a culinary or hospitality program at Southern Maine Community or YCCC who has demonstrated a passion for culinary arts or hospitality, the capacity to lead, and a high value for education.

“We are very proud of Khaleigh and all that she has accomplished in her time at YCCC. Her dedication and perseverance have been remarkable, and she is so deserving of this honor. She is going to be a wonderful asset to the local hospitality industry.” said Krista Marvel, YCCC Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management. “We also want to thank Jean Ginn Marvin and the Nonantum Resort for their continued commitment and generosity. Truly, it takes a village to prepare the next generation of hospitality professionals, and we are so fortunate to be part of such a supportive community.”
